The Tri-City Storm is offering an extreme discount on student tickets for the hockey team’s 7:05 p.m. home game on Friday against Des Moines. As part of its Fan Appreciation Weekend, the Storm will offer $1 game tickets to all students beginning at 1 p.m. Thursday. The price changes to $2 at 2 p.m. and $3 at 3 p.m.
Tickets will be sold by Storm staff from the parking lot at the Viaero Wireless store at 1920 W. 24th St., which is just west of the University of Nebraska at Kearney campus. Thursday’s one day only special will continue from 3 to 8 p.m. at the Viaero Event Center, with tickets selling for $3 beginning at 3 p.m., $4 at 4 p.m. and $5 from 5 to 8 p.m.
The discounts are only for elementary, middle school, high school and college students with a valid student ID.
The Storm is partnering with Hits 106 on the promotion, and the radio station will conduct live remotes from Viaero’s parking lot throughout the afternoon. The student prices will continue to be offered during a playoff rally and free skating party being hosted for fans from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Event Center.
The Storm currently is in a tight race with Sioux City for the fourth and final west division spot in the United States Hockey League playoffs. Following Friday’s game, the team closes out its regular season with a home game on Saturday against Sioux Falls.
